We're gearing up for Spring - okay so the ice and snow hasn't completely thawed - but a little optimism never killed anyone (we hope). And part of our gearing up means shedding a bit of that winter weight (ahem). We steered you to our detox last month - so now that you've rid your body of the bad stuff - let's get in shape and lose some weight!
Here is your simple formula - I know - it's so simple and obvious, it really shouldn't require saying it again...but here we go: First and foremost - find an excercise that you enjoy - something you'll stick with - otherwise you're lying only to yourself. If that means running, then run. If that means joining a gym, then join a gym. And if it's simply getting out for a walk every day, then even that counts. Combine that with a healthy diet
- that means putting away the cheeseburgers and fries and replacing it with lots of greens and fish. Now the best part of our formula is TEA! Take the first two components and add a few of the following teas and you're well on your way to shedding those pounds. One of our favourites is Oolong - we could write sonnets about Oolong - as a matter of fact, we did on our
blog! But besides being a delicious tea, it's great for speeding up your metabolism. Another staple for us is Mate - Sunshine Mate to be exact. Mate is a great energy booster, it's an immune system booster - and it helps suppress the appetite!
Let us know how it goes - we would love to hear some success stories!
We've always been big believers in giving back - and although we can't always say yes to every great cause we are approached by, we did say a big resounding yes on February 9th when we joined some Twitter friends at Roy Thompson Hall to participate in an emergency fundraiser for Haiti. The entire event was organized by Eat, Drink and Give - a group of like-minded friends that decided to get up and do something!
We're proud to say we were part of an event that drew great support from the Ontario wineries as well as fabulous restaurants. The event managed to raise $42,000 - which remember, will be matched by the Federal Government.
So it's safe to say, it was a success!
